Our very first Jesus March started in Sacramento, California over 3 years ago. Ivan had a dream of thousands stretching from the Sacramento Capital to the Tower Bridge, holding signs, flags, and singing about the name of the Lord.
Being obedient, we hosted our very first Jesus March in Sacramento, California. We knew that if Sacramento can be changed, so can the rest of the world.
On October 30, 2021, we had planned to hold our second Sacramento Jesus March on the steps of the State Capitol. However, due to remodeling work, we were denied permits for the location.
Instead, we were able to obtain permits for a little patch of grass just down the street from the Capitol steps on Capital Mall and 9th St.
But this was no ordinary patch of grass…
Little did we know that God had directed the starting location of our march to the same street where a historical Christian event took place exactly 50 years prior to our march in 2021.
It was only after our march ended that someone from our team decided to do a Google search for Jesus March Sacramento.
He found an article dating back to 1971 called “Spiritual Revolution Day, Sacramento California, 1971”
The article mentioned an event led by the Jesus People Movement, where a large group of young people, numbering over 7,000, came together to march through the streets of Downtown Sacramento, holding signs and loudly proclaiming the name of Jesus.
Just like us!
But here’s the crazy part:
The Jesus People marched through the same exact street where we started our march on that little patch of grass exactly 50 years from 2021.

It was as if God was showing us a sign that He was passing down the torch to the next generation of believers who were willing to stand up and make a bold proclamation for Jesus on the streets of America.
What’s even more intriguing is that our second Jesus March in Sacramento took place shortly after our first march in Seattle, WA, so many of our friends from Seattle joined us for this event.
It’s fascinating to discover that the article from 1971 mentions youth from Colorado, Texas, San Diego, and Seattle coming to the Sacramento Jesus March.
Reading this article today has made me wonder if it is mere coincidence that God has put it on our hearts to march in the cities of Denver, Dallas, and Seattle and for 2023.
